Christian Concourse

Newsletter of the Month

August 2008

Dear Friends of Christian Concourse,

We greet you in the precious name of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.  Let us revel in His priceless grace and the rich gift of faith He has blessed us with.  May He be glorified in each deed, in each motive, in each word we speak as His children, as His ambassadors to the world that is lost and undone without His Holy Spirit in their hearts.

We will be leaving on the 19th of this month for the annual conference of the Christian Fellowship of Care Center Ministries.  This is such an important event on our yearly calendar as we gather with other brother and sisters who are called to labor in the same mission field in which we spend so much of our time and energy.  Each of the organizations represented have a vision for regional or national outreach.  It is such a blessing to share with these dear Christians as we reflect on our victories and our struggles.  We will compare notes on strategies for successfully fulfilling our calling, resources for ministry, and how trends in the industry of long-term care may affect our work.  Certainly, over the years we have established vital relationships and friendships with several of the “regulars” at the conference and it will be a great joy to renew our fellowship.  And, of course, it is always exciting to meet newcomers to our group who have fresh vision, new ideas, and unique perspectives to share with us.

After the conference, we will be taking a few days of R and R with the Lord.

For our travel expenses for the conference we have received several special, one-time donations.  We ask each of you, as the Lord brings us to your mind, to include us in your prayers that we will return from the conference charged by the Holy Spirit with sharper vision for His will for this ministry and spiritual revitalization for greater effectiveness in sharing His Word with those He brings across our path.  Dar and I both long to see a release of HIS POWER in our work, for HIS GLORY and the upbuilding of HIS KINGDOM!  It is our prayer that we be holy vessels of service to the KING.  In all things may Jesus Christ be exalted.

Some of you may know that Jerry’s mother recently went on to be with the Lord.  We rejoice in the confidence, in the certain knowledge, that that is exactly what happened when she left that little worn out body.  She gave unselfishly from her heart until her heart gave out.  “Absent from the body…present with the Lord!”  O, how sweet is the passing of one of His dear saints….quiet, almost unnoticed here but we’re sure things were different on the other side for Gwendolyn when she opened her eyes to the face of Jesus Christ!  We can only imagine.  But, one day, because we know her Master too, we will see her again and dance with her around the throne of God with pure innocence, freedom and joy.  “Comfort ye one another with these words.”

To each of you who love our Lord and show it with your kindness to us, we say thank you from the bottom of our heart.  May everything be done to bless Him, to bring Him glory, to give Him honor!   Amen!

Love, Jerry and Dar Johnson
