Christian Concourse

Newsletter of the Month

October 2008

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Glory to Jesus Christ and blessings upon each of you in the fresh air of these early Autumn days.  We thank God Almighty for the wonder of the seasons.  May His name be praised.  We can certainly see His ways reflected in the changing winds of our political scene, our financial world and the religious atmosphere in our communities.  May we, as the Father’s beloved children, trust Him in the midst of these turbulences and keep our eyes and our hope on Him.  He never changes!  Let us honor Him with our confidence and our love.

We have been limping along without an office copier for several months.  This came to the attention of a dear supporter and they have purchased a dream machine for our office.  This is such a blessing and we thank them sincerely.

Now, our printing press has crashed.  We shared this need at a recent meeting of local activity directors.  Someone came up to us after the meeting and said, “Find a good used machine…I’ll pay for it!”  Her feeling was that we cannot let a broken machine stop the Lord’s work.  Praise God!  We’re looking diligently!

Indeed, we continue to receive requests for our free materials and by the grace of God and your kindness to this ministry we are mailing large print hymnbooks and CD’s to nursing home ministers all over the country.  In fact, our materials are in every English speaking nation in the world, plus Israel, Italy and Ecuador!

As you all know, the demand for volunteers in nursing homes will greatly increase as the baby-boomers reach retirement age over the next 25 years, many of whom will need long-term health care.  In fact, the care-center population is expected to more than double!  The Body of Christ is not yet mobilized to respond to this growing opportunity for outreach and ministry.  Christian Concourse will continue to do all that we can to raise that awareness in the Church.  To this end, Dar and I are available to do motivational presentations and training seminars for nursing home ministry in any setting with seven or more interested Christians.  Our presentations can be tailored to go from 5 minutes to two hours.  Our seminars are flexible to last from half a day to three days.  Jerry has been periodically involved in nursing home ministry for over 50 years and through Christian Concourse we have been focused full-time on this mission field for over 17 years.  If you know of a group that could benefit from such concentrated inspiration and instruction for nursing home ministry PLEASE contact us!  We would be honored to hear from you.

Again, we thank you for your continued support in prayer and in finances.  It is our prayer that God richly bless you.

 Love in Christ,
Jerry and Dar
